Our Rod Factory is located in an old re-furbished textile mill in a small town called New York Mills. If you are familiar with New York State, Utica NY is located almost directly in the center of the New York State Thruway, between Albany and Syracuse. From our 2nd floor window we can look across the s treet and just barely see the Sauquoit Creek which flows through Utica, Washington Mills, Sauquoit, and eventually NY Mills. People tell us of the times that the creek would run different colors depending on what they were dying in this old mill, today she holds some small brown trout and some beautiful brook trout.
A few times a year we will look very closely at the screen on the window and see a small may fly, perhaps a Sulpher or Blue Winged Olive. On those days, it is possible we may leave a few minutes before closing time.
Our factory is about 800 square feet and 2000 square feet including our shop, storage area, and manufacturing facility. All our rods are wrapped by hand in this little Mill, and in the evening our walls will vibrate with the slight hum of our 15 rod turners.
Some customers stop by to watch us work, some probably hang out to get away, no matter what they all are welcome. Just don't get too upset when we kick you out when we need to do some epoxy work.
Please call us anytime for questions. All tours last 30 seconds, and include a free cup of coffee and a treat for our shop dog Montana. |
